How Botox and Fillers Can Improve Your Selfie Game

Most of us love taking selfies and we all know most of the tricks like finding good lighting and taking the picture slightly above eye level to open up the eyes and highlight the contours of the face, but for advanced selfie taking, Botox and fillers can take you to that next level.

Botox Vs Fillers

Botox relaxes the muscles of the face that create dynamic wrinkles. These create the “11” from between the eyebrows, the horizontal lines in the forehead, and the crows feet. Because selfies are taken pretty close up, a lot of those lines can be even more noticeable – especially around the eyes when we smile. Botox smooths those lines so you don’t have to waste so much time with filters or smoothing apps to erase them. It can also slightly lift the eyebrows creating a more open eye look. You can just look into the camera, feel relaxed, and know everything will look smooth and beautiful.

Fillers do what they sound like – they fill lines and create volume. These are best used for the hollows under the eyes, the smile lines (nasolabial folds), to plump the lips, or fill the cheeks. Many of my patients tell me that the hollows under their eyes are really noticeable in photos so filler in this area really helps create a better contour. Makeup also sometime creases in the nasolabial folds so even if yours aren’t very deep, they are usually more noticeable in pictures, especially close up selfies. For lips and cheeks, I believe natural and even are the key. I have had so many girls come into my office with uneven globs of filler placed creating wierd shapes in the lips, too much filler placed in the lip line or even above it creating a duck or monkey look, or over filled cheeks that look cartoonish. When performed well, fillers help accentuate your natural features and create beautiful contours.
