Every single person is unique and creates their own path in life.
We live in an open society where almost anyone can place judgment on another person. With social media and the Internet, that makes hating even more accessible. When it comes to coping with these situations, my advice is to focus on yourself, what you are doing to better yourself, the accomplishments and positive qualities you have, and the people close to you that truly know you and love you. Let any negative comments fall around you without striking you.
When I was younger, because I didn’t fit a lot of the stereotypes that people expected of me, I had to face a lot of judgement. Being at Harvard or even Med school, sometimes I honestly felt like Elle Woods, where fellow classmates told me that I shouldn’t dress up or wear makeup to class; that it was Harvard, not fashion school. At this point in my life, I feel that I’ve earned the right to be who I am. I have a huge heart and put everything into the care for my patients and my family and I try to create positivity around everything I do.
Don’t be afraid to be yourself. When you are true to yourself, it will allow you to be unaffected from any negative judgments. Every single person is unique and creates their own path in life that is just as valid and important as anyone else’s. Express yourself in whatever way makes you feel joy and don’t let the fear of judgement stifle your style or your inner glow and keep you from being yourself.
