Can Diet and Exercise Tighten Loose Skin After Pregnancy?
Many people ask me if diet and exercise can bring together or tighten abdominal muscles that have been pulled apart from pregnancy or weight fluctuations. Sometimes people are unfairly judged for having plastic surgery and are told just to go to the gym.
I cannot stress enough how in many circumstances plastic surgery is necessary to repair injured tissues – that no amount of diet or exercise can repair muscles or remove excess skin.
This patient is a true example of that – this is her 2 weeks post op. Pregnancy stretched her abdominal muscles apart over 13 cm, weakened her abdominal fascia, and also left her with excess skin. She felt discomfort with exercise because of the lack of core support. She underwent a life changing tummy tuck with complex muscle repair and even after 2 weeks feels significantly better. She is still recovering and still swollen but her transformation is so dramatic I had to share. Despite the extensive surgery, she was walking the night of surgery and off prescription medication after a day. She is healing amazingly and I can’t for her to be fully recovered at 6 weeks when she can resume exercise – I know she will feel so much stronger and I am so excited for her to see her final shape and results!
